Founded more than 340 years ago
The Georgianum in the school centre at Kardinal-von-Galen-Str. 7–9 in Lingen (Ems) is a grammar school that can look back on a history of more than 340 years and today, due to the merger of the two Lingen grammar schools Johanneum and Georgianum on 1 August 2009, has 1,266 pupils (as of 15 September 2020).
We differ from other grammar schools in terms of our specialised subjects. For example, in the foreign language profile, we offer Spanish as a second foreign language, but also as a third foreign language (alongside Latin and French). We also offer bilingual lessons (history, politics and biology in English) and the option of choosing Latin or Spanish as a new foreign language from Year 11 onwards. This option is particularly suitable for secondary school pupils who wish to obtain their A-levels at our school after completing a qualified secondary I qualification.
The exchange programme and the promotion of gifted students with an extensive range of extracurricular activities in languages, natural sciences, sports and the arts are also distinctive features of our profile, which seeks to cater to the different talents of our students.
Our excellent and performance-friendly school environment, which has been confirmed many times and was once again highlighted by the Lower Saxony School Inspectorate in March 2016, is linked to an extensive support programme that makes it easier for children to recognise their abilities and develop their talents to the full.
