In 2019, Georgianum Grammar School became the first school in the Emsland region to be awarded the title of "Talent School for Sport" and was successfully recertified in 2024. The seal recognises the systematic promotion of sporting talent in close cooperation with clubs and associations.

Individual support in everyday school life
Sports class from Year 5 onwards with additional sports time and targeted development of coordination and fitness skills.
High-quality teaching and differentiated performance support in regular sports groups in secondary levels I and II.
Advanced sports course with in-depth training theory, sports biology and sports psychology – optimal preparation for competitive sports.
Additional offers for talented individuals
Special training times as part of clubs and projects, e.g. handball, rowing or athletics.
Opportunity to obtain the DOSB C coaching licence: talented individuals can take on responsibility in club sports while still at school.
Use of funding for talent scouts, training equipment and diagnostic software for talent identification.

The sports talent school is based on a dense network of clubs, associations and other institutions.
Handball
Close cooperation with HC Lingen and SG Lingen-Lohne; the joint project was recognised by the Friends of German Handball and the DHB as the "best cooperation model between secondary school and club".
Rowing
Traditional cooperation with the Gymnasial Turn- und Ruderverein (GTRV) – rowing club, winter training, rowing courses.
Football
Additional training and support programmes for football-loving pupils at a high level, led by qualified A-licence coaches.
Cooperation with the NLZ Emsland

Collaboration with the district sports association and other clubs for special offers, training courses and competition support.
Successes and prospects
Regular participation and success in the "Youth Training for the Olympics" programme in various sports.
Numerous teams reach district and state finals; the Georgianum is firmly established in regional school and club sports.
Talented students take on responsibility as trainers, referees or coaches and thus act as multipliers in their clubs.
