Politics and economics at the Georgianum

Should school prepare pupils better for life?

This is exactly what is done in politics and economics classes!

Politics influences not only social coexistence, but also the personal lives of students. Especially in combination with economics, it quickly becomes clear how important the topics taught are, even before the first election. Starting in Year 7, pupils learn how they can actively participate in their school and community. They learn what to look out for when spending money and how to navigate the digital and analogue economic world safely so that they do not fall into typical traps.

In upper secondary school, the knowledge acquired previously can be deepened in courses at a basic or advanced level. Here, pupils can engage with current issues and take their A-levels in politics and economics. This is because PoWi lessons have the WAUH effect: knowledge, analysis, judgement and action. These are precisely the skills that pupils acquire in order to make confident decisions and actively participate in society.
