The Georgianum Grammar School has held the title of "International Sustainability School / Environmental School in Europe" for many years. The school is regularly recognised for its commitment to environmental and climate protection, biodiversity and sustainable action – most recently for the period 2022–2024.

What does "Environmental School in Europe" mean?

The "International Sustainability School / Environmental School in Europe" award is a programme that supports schools in firmly anchoring education for sustainable development (ESD) in everyday school life. Schools work on at least two areas of action over a period of two years – such as climate protection, biodiversity, resource conservation or social responsibility – and implement specific projects with pupils, teachers and other partners.

At the end of the project period, the results are presented to a jury. If the project is successful, the state of Lower Saxony, together with other partners, awards the distinction.
