Music at the Georgianum

Experience music in all its facets

Music at Georgianum means experiencing the diversity of music in all its facets. With great dedication and enthusiasm, your music teachers will guide you through a wide variety of content in the lower and upper school. We are convinced that a practical approach to music always leads to lasting experiences and good results. In addition, it is a matter of course for us to integrate your personal interests and strengths into our lessons and extracurricular activities.

Focus areas of the subject Music

Lower secondary education

(Years 5–10)

Weekly hours

Music is taught as a compulsory subject for two hours per week (reduced to one hour per week in years 8–10).

Content

In accordance with the school curriculum, a wide range of music from classical to pop is taught.

Upper secondary education

(Years 11–13)

Weekly hours

  • In Year 11, music lessons are taught for one hour per week.
  • In Years 12 and 13, music lessons are usually taught for three hours (there is the option of choosing music as an exam subject or advanced course).

Contents

  • In Year 11, according to the current school curriculum
  • In Years 12 and 13, depending on the courses, at a basic level in accordance with the core curriculum requirements and at an advanced level in line with the specified Abitur (A-level) focus areas.

In addition to regular music lessons, all our pupils can choose from a wide range of music clubs: string class, choir, string choir, Emsland Youth Orchestra (JOE), Groovebox (percussion) and the school bands Relics and Georgie's Groove Orchestra (GGO).
