Pupils from Mezöberény in Hungary are currently visiting Lingen. The partnership between Georgianum and the bilingual secondary school in Mezöberény has been in place since 1990.
Lingen's Mayor Stefan Heskamp welcomed the guests, who had travelled a long way, at a reception in the New Town Hall. During their stay, the Hungarians are staying with host families and attending classes at the Georgianum grammar school. The pupils have been learning German in Hungary for several years and can further improve their language skills in Lingen. However, in addition to the learning aspect, the focus is always on the encounters between the pupils. Joint excursions through the Emsland region and a trip to Amsterdam are planned. Another highlight is a visit to the Lingen Old Town Festival.
During the reception, Mayor Heskamp expressed his special thanks to the two Hungarian teachers, Tibor Takács and Barbara Oláh, as well as the German teachers, Michael Wilmes and Sebastian Zermann, who once again organised the exchange and are accompanying the students. "I hope that the relationship between the two schools will continue for a long time to come and that there will be many more mutual visits," said Stefan Heskamp.
