Podiumsdiskussion in voller Länge auf der Ems-Vechte-Welle

22. Juni 2025

Under the theme "80 years later – using history to promote democracy", invited experts gathered in our school canteen on 21 May 2025 to discuss what we can learn from the history of the Nazi dictatorship for today's democracy. The discussion focused on the question of guilt, the role of the media and how historical education can contribute to strengthening democracy.

Students from Years 11 and 12 moderated the discussion or presented the guests with questions prepared by their year groups.

Listen in, either via http://emsvechtewelle.de/ (player at the bottom of the page) or traditionally via FM 95.6 MHz.

Their interesting contributions made for a very informative discussion event (from left to right): Markus Hardt (Director of the Lingen District Court), Sebastian Weitkamp (Director of the Esterwegen Memorial), Christoph Rass (Professor of Contemporary History and Historical Migration Research, University of Osnabrück) and Marko Schnitker (Director of Ems-Vechte-Welle).
